R2 unit Grab on Mustafar! Clone Wars Game

I had a chance to test run some more of the Scifi rules I'm working on with Trade Federation Rob.  We went with another game set in the Clone Wars era of the Star Wars universe on the planet Mustafar with General Skywalker vs Asajj Ventress in an operation to recover R2 units with precious data:

Mustafar, see my previous blog entries for how I made the scifi terrain.

Another view from the Republic side

And a view from the CIS entry side.

Deadly lava rivers and foundries criss cross the surface, making movement treacherous!

R2 unit by the Droid Tri-Fighter

Another R2

And another

The Republic enter the table with Gunship attempting to lock on and engage a CIS Vulture droid

Clones advance up multiple gantries toward the R2s

General Skywalker attaches himself to a Clone Trooper Squad

FORWARD TO THE CLANKERS!!

The Republic ISP sweeps up across the lava flows to take up a firing position

Roger! Roger! Droids advance with a Crab Droid for support.

Ventress clears ground moving forward in bounds and takes the first R2 unit

Droids advance to support Ventress

R2s in sight!

Clone Troopers spot Ventress and begin to fire!

Ventress casts a veil and the other Troopers are unable to spot her!

The Gunship chews apart the first Vulture droid with twin heavy suppressors and moves to engage the other.

Anakin leaps forward to seize the next R2 unit and throws back Ventress with a Psy Blast!

Clones move to Support Anakin!

Droids begin to flank the Republic forces, Ventress takes another R2 as well as the Crab Droid

Clones take heavy fire from Super Battle Droids!

The ISP moves to support the Clones and fires on the Droids

The Crab droid, wounded by a failed attempt to cross a lava flow, attacks a Clone Squad in melee, butchering them!

The remainder of the squad attempts to escape!

A second squad is engaged even after the Droid takes 2 rockets to it's back from another Clone squad!!

In the end the CIS came in with the victory having captured the most R2 units.  I got to refine more of the rules, tested more Abilities and some new melee resolving as well as Epic Wounds.  The rules will be universal, allowing players to field whatever armies, genres etc they want.  A good system to use up all those various scifi minis lying around!

More to come,
Doc

  1. Hi Doc
Great report. Will the rules be for commercial release or a give-away?

    1. Thanks! Rules will be commercial through Iron Ivan Games though there could be freebies by way of army lists and scenarios depending on how everything rounds out.
