54mm 3rd Servile War, The Spartacus Revolt
Moving a few things around and I came across my OOP 54mm Gladiators and Romans.
The original sculptor of these I believe was Aaron Brown.
Great series, he also did Goths I believe
A Roman Consul surveys the situation while his camp is raided by the escaped slaves.
Put them to Iron!
Many of the slaves are former Gladiators. Here a Dimaecharus armed with two daggers and looking very Celtic.
Two swords vs a pilum.
Another simple armed slave with shield and sword.
Great posing. I have them mounted on ceramic tile for arena fighting.
The ruleset I made, Victus, used hex based play.
Secutars and Murmillo. It’s doubtful the escaped gladiators would have continued using the vision restrictive helms.
Another view.
The Retiari with their nets and tridents along with a Laqueatius using a spear and lasso.
The dying model here is from a 1/35 plastic set.
A spear thrown to short.
A trainer or tribal leader with another Dimachaerius.
The Thraex with its curved Sica.
Spartacus was believed to be Thracian who this gladiator was modeled after.
More to come,
Doc
