Terror at the Top of the World! 28mm Pulp 80's Survival Horror game
October is great time for some Table Top Horror themed games to be run and what better genre than in the Pulp 1980s.
This scenario is a mash up of sorts, combining a Horror movie with the 80's action stars of GI JOE and I think it works, especially giving a little nod to Cobra-La and it's Bio Horrors that have existed before man, hidden in the ice...
The game begins with the players at the end of the table, there aircraft downed by a firefight above. In front of them lays an abandoned Cobra facility, or is it?
The Factions, Joe and Cobra are on opposite sides but both must commandeer a vehicle on the other end of the table to escape.
Each player gets 2 Characters, no Ninjas. Below is the list I used

Dare! Locations
6 Dare location markers are scattered across the table, at least 12 inches apart and 20 inches away from the players deployment area.
Each location when solved allows the player to draw a card:
Special rules:
Graboids attack when they hear or sense something. To keep players in suspense for a turn, use cotton bedding for kicked up snow to represent an attack. Do not reveal the Graboid until the second turn.
After Each Character Activation a Graboid Attack check is made. Roll a d10, apply any modifiers and consult the Graboid Attack chart.

"I trained for this" - Characters that are not trained for the harsh Arctic environment suffer a -2 modifier to all Moxie tests.
“I am completely out of ammo”– whenever a 10 is rolled for a Gats test, the player is now out of Ammo. If the player is part of a Group, the entire Group is out.
“SAVE YOURSELF”-after wounds are determined from fighting a Graboid, the player may choose how to distribute the wounds between attacked characters OR have one character take them all, even extra wounds scored that round.
"Hey little fella, are you friendly?"- Penguins can be placed randomly on the table. A player may attempt to friend one if they are in base to base contact and pass an Easy Dare! test. If passed the penguin attaches himself to the player reduces movement to 6". If the Character or Group they are in are attacked, they may declare the penguin the target and receive no wounds from Graboids in the activation. The penguin if hit by the attacks is removed.

Name:Caederus americana, Graboid
Fists:6 (4 small)
GATS:5 (3 small)
Moxie:10 (8 small)
DARE!:4 (3 small)
Schticks: Snack Attack! This particular Terror is quick on the draw and may lash out an attack just like Snap Fire at any target that activates within 12 inches of it. The Terror receives 1 free attack at the same modifiers for Snap Fire and rolls under it’s Gats score to hit and it’s AP of 7 (smaller ones 5) to wound as it reaches out for a quick bite!
Immune to small arms fire unless hit in Snapfire to the front during attack. Must roll a 1 to wound. All hits still roll for Moxie check.
Blast weapons, Heavy weapons wound on a 5 or under. A 1 counts as 2 wounds. All hits still roll for Moxie check.
When surfaced, the Graboid attacks, remains surfaced unless it kills a character or is Pinned. Pinned it gets a marker, kills, it returns underground.
While out it may be targeted and fired upon or charged in melee at a -5 to Moxie tests. In melee only wounding hits of 1 wound.
Graboids attack with their Fists score -the cover of the Character.
The Graboid models were taken from here:
And printed in vinyl. I scaled them and messed around a little with them in Tinkercad.
I've made some wounded Snow Serpents that can be used for Dare! Locations here:
More to come,
Doc
