1/56 Orange trees for Lebanese Civil War
I’ve finished a recent terrain project and thought I would share.
I needed a bunch of orange trees and wasn’t happy with the price to quantity ratio I was seeing in the market so I made my own.
I had copper wire sitting around so used that as the primary medium. I braid 3 wires together and then braid 4 of them together to make one tree.
These trees I hot glued to washer bases for weight and stability. I then brushed with a 50/50 mix of joint compound and wood glue with some water. Should be just thin enough to paint, but still thick on apply.
After they dried I primed them flat black and then dry brushed with a medium brown, and then again with a light tan.
The foliage top was fine steel wool that I shaped into a round cup like form. Spray painted it green and then applied a spray full coat and flocked while it was still tacky. I did the same thing for the tree stand bases. I then dull coated again and added some woodland scenic oranges.
The last step was I dipped the branches of the trees into a general purpose cement and pressed the foliage down onto it.
More to come,
Doc
Very nicely done!
