First and probably last game of Troops, Weapons and Tactics
We tried our first game of Too Fat Lardies ruleset Troops, Weapons and Tactics.
The table set up is a patrol clash to test out the rules
Plenty of terrain to break up the line of site
And the forces were matched fairly well
2 squads, a MMG team and command squad on both sides.
It’s a lot of work to create the cards needed for the game and they are pretty much one use. Cards needed made for each game.
Our blind markers begin revealing, but the IDF continues my get the luck of the draw on the cards. Keeping units as Blinds rather than deploying definitely reduce their ability to engage on the table.
Grenades are thrown back and forth by both teams reducing their effectiveness. I could not find the rules for RPGs fired on infantry so they were left out.
The MMG mechanic for laying down pinning fire was a cool piece of the rules.
Reserving your action dice was constantly being used to activate. It begins to get confusing with the Sgts and the squads.
My platoon command moves to close assault, which was a large process honestly. Lots of adding and subtracting with the rolls to then roll again for effect.
All in all the game did not keep players engaged, rules were not easy to follow but I did like some of the mechanics of the game. Just not enough to use the game again for moderns.
More to come,
